WWJD?

Was my day crazy you ask, of course! By Noon, I had fixed 5 different breakfasts, brushed 3 heads of hair, gathered backpacks, changed diapers, got myself dressed, fed the cats and dogs, unloaded the dishwasher TWICE (if you live in the area and know of a house with two dishwashers please let me know, I need it)...you get the picture. Finally I arrived at the gym and elected to stay here for not one class, but two. Know why? Because if you stay away from your house then you can forget the amount of laundry and cleaning that must be done.

Finally, too sore to walk or care that my house is a pit,  I head home. Yep, it was still a pit. I dug in like a busy little bee. Shuffling from here to there. Bouncing from leftover breakfast to making dinner and fitting in three or four loads of laundry.

At last, I sit to feed the baby. While feeding Abby and trying to figure out Mobile Me on our computer (notice the multi-tasking), I hear  clicking sounds. I know Snoop has something. I really don't want to look...I look. It's the plastic Baby Jesus from our King Cake. Seriously, Snoop is eating Baby Jesus. That my friend was definitely the icing on the good ole cake!

Napoleon who?

So, today was a long day. One kid here, one kid there. Chris is out of town. The baby won't sleep. You know the story!

The kids and I were sitting down for dinner and having a very nice conversation. Of course, that was after I argued with Will over what he was going to eat and why he should do this. Then, Hanna and I had a small war over manners and eating with her fingers at the ripe old age of 10. But nevertheless we moved on.

The conversation went this way and that way until we landed on the Louisiana Purchase. Don't ask how, it just happened. I was very pleased they both knew what that was and elaborated by telling them Napoleon sold it to the United States. This is the best part of the story...

Will answered very nonchalantly but serious "I know,  Napoleon Dynamite."

Introducing...Mimi and Papa!

See those two people? Those are my mom and dad. Also known as Billy and Sally. Also known as Mimi and Papa. I would take more current and better pictures, but they have ditched us for Florida (that's a whole other blog) until late March.

Of course I could tell you many, many funny and not so funny stories about these two (I bet they are hoping this whole blog thing goes away before I get to the really good ones!) Today, I am going to tell you about their competitive spirit.

Believe me, they've both got it. They may try and act like they aren't but it's just that, an act. Since they are in Florida I haven't seen much of this. However, I received a phone call last Saturday. Yep, they were in a heated battle. It was sooooo important they needed to call me to referee. They were fighting over.......rice. Whether we ate it before we moved to Singapore or after.

In true Swiss fashion, I did my best to remain neutral and please them both. "Yes we had rice, but not the real rice, like in Singapore. You know the Minute Rice." They both seemed a bit deflated with my answer  but satisfied.

Let's just hope it gets warmer in Florida, so they can get out and stop arguing about rice!

Sprinkles are overrated

Zac needed a little snack. I found Zac standing outside the shut pantry door saying, "We don't need sprinkles." Zac only let me in the pantry because I promised not to get mad.  At least he knew where the vacuum was and how to use it, and he got his own snack.

Burberry Smurberry

Hi Hanna. Hi Hanna wearing my brand new Burberry sunglasses to play in the snow!

My little genius...

This is Will. This is Will studying the ice off of the basketball goal. Will is a very smart child. He thinks the Little Genius section of my new math app is "so easy." I asked Will to put his clothes in the dryer today. He put them in the washer. Do you know why? He didn't know which was the washer and and which was the dryer.

The agony of defeat, death, diarrhea, and a deserted island

The D words are popular in our family these days. It began with a little ole swim meet last week.

Hanna was in the meet. It was only her second swim meet and she has only been practicing for a couple of months, but...Hanna just knew she was going to win at least one race. She did not. After the race she looked at me with her big eyes, they were full of tears. This is unusual for her, and broke my heart into little, bitty pieces.  What do you say? We have all felt the pain of Defeat and learned the lesson, but still want to protect our children from any of the pains life lessons teach us. We told her how good she did and how she would improve. We encouraged her to not quit the entire sport after one meet of not winning. We talked her through her pain and she responded by getting back up and practicing, practicing, practicing. Like most things with kids, it is a distant memory for her but etched in her parents hearts forever.

That brings me to Death. The new topic of interest for Will. He is terrified of me dying. I have to say I am sad for him, but thrilled that he actually wants me to be around for a while! We have discussed heaven and how I probably won't die for a long time for lots of reasons and the biggie is...because I eat so healthy! Yep, I'm not ashamed to use his fear of dying to get him to eat good. Currently, he is eating a fruit AND vegetable before any snacks and at dinner. He also seems to have forgotten about death for now.

Which brings me to something I would like to forget...Diarrhea.  Zac has it. I have cleaned it up on my bathroom floor, his bathroom floor and thrown two pair of underwear away. Right now he is naked and running happily to the bathroom every five minutes. I am nurturing sore hands (from cleaning with Clorox) and an upset stomach (so yucky to clean up).

Now you know why I would like to escape to a Deserted island for a few hours if not days!
